3.35 ct Blue Umba Sapphire from Tanzania, Custom Modified Pear, 50k Polish

$2,850.00

A larger untreated Umba sapphire from Tanzania, precision faceted in a custom modified pear design. The stone shows a cool medium blue body color with a soft lavender-purple shift depending on lighting, giving it the kind of subtle tonal complexity Umba material is known for.

The cut has a broad, elegant face-up shape with a more architectural structure than a standard pear. The crown features four descending rows of rectangular facets, creating a tiered, almost step-cut appearance while still retaining brightness and movement from the mixed brilliant design. The result is a tailored pear shape with strong visual presence and a distinctive custom geometry.

In daylight, the color reads predominantly blue with a slightly steely tone. Under warmer indoor lighting, it can shift toward a softer lavender cast. The effect is refined rather than dramatic — more of a gentle color movement than a full color-change.

There is a localized internal area of fine crystalline “sugar” near the broader end of the stone. It is confined to one interior region and is not surface-reaching. The surface remains clean and well-finished throughout. In hand, the inclusion reads more as a natural fingerprint than a dominant flaw: visible enough to show the stone’s natural character, but localized enough not to overwhelm the face-up appearance.

Precision faceted and polished to 50k, this is a distinctive larger Umba sapphire with unusual custom cutting, strong face-up size, and the subtle blue-to-lavender tonal behavior that makes untreated material from this locality especially compelling.
