This Sapphire is a proper medium blue, unheated, untreated, and uncommonly clean. It is a very lively gem, and vivid blue even in low light. Not too dark. Better than eye clean, an sufficiently absent hints of rutile (silk) rods that is rare for Sapphire from the region, the Umba Valley of Tanzania. No notable rutile (silk) rods or other typical Umba Valley sapphire inclusions. 2.6 carats. We faceted this stone in a modified Marquise Cut tailored to the rough towards optimizing color. Very open cross table, near clear. A proper rarity.
