The yellow sapphire is very clean and well-colored. The rough stone we cut this from was mined in the Umba region of Tanzania. For an Umba sapphire of this size to be this clean and without silk, needles, and sugar on significant magnification at this size is a bit of a rarity.
This gem we precision faceted in an original modified pear cut design. As with most of our gems, we polished this stone to a fine luster with the 100K grit more typically involved in competition cutting rather than the commercial market. The result is a vibrant, brilliant yellow gem suitable for setting as ring-stone or pendant.
